If you're a man, it's all about the visceral fat.

Fortunately, that's the easiest fat for men to lose. When I was at my top weight- 30 pounds heavier, 240 pounds- I had a shelf in front of my body. That's what my visceral fat looked like. Visceral fat is so dangerous because it wraps around the internal organs and poisons them. It can lead to many degenerative diseases like diabetes. You can tell if you have visceral fat by measuring your waist. At my fattest, my waist was 46 inches. Now it is 40. I feel a lot better than I did in those days. When my waist was bigger, I would wake up in the morning feeling terrible and I think it was my visceral fat that was making me feel that way. My should have a waist of no more than forty inches; women no more than thirty-five. Women have the "advantage" of not having so much visceral fat until they get to menopause at which time they catch up. Before that, much of their fat is subcutaneous which means that it is visible (which they hate), but not as unhealthy as the hidden visceral fat. I speculate that visceral fat adds to the fatty liver. By the way, my weight today is 210 and a half pounds, down half a pound from yesterday.
